Mountain Retreat: Swimming in the River of Life

Educational & Experiential Retreat with Tom Myers & Karin Gurtner

Join Tom and Karin for this resounding, renewing, and resetting retreat in the Alps. For three days, bring your full focus to the flow of breath and its connection to emotion, mental clarity, and bodily presence. Breath links to brain, heart, and our gut feelings in so many ways - and we get to explore these links in depth - including how to see and ‘read’ the breath in your clients or students.

Exploring Breath and Integration

Breath is the one movement we do over 20,000 times a day, every day. It involves just one muscle and all of them. Every breath moves over 100 joints, and the kidneys riding underneath travel 1/2 kilometre per day, up and down on your exhale and inhale. Beyond its vital mechanics, your breath links the nervous system to the gut, constantly balancing your known and unknown wishes with the real world. The real world outside, and the real world inside - your river of breath is the inescapable result.

It is not difficult to be surrounded by a 5-star resort near Gstaad, where the sauna heat, flowing waters, stunning setting, and a healthy kitchen allow us the time and space to do the ‘harder’ work of paying attention to our connection with ourselves, with another, and with our mother Earth.

Come back with a restored sense of shared purpose and personal responsibility.

From Tom & Karin

This is the 4th year of our Alpine collaboration. In the service of depth and all those who are repeating with us, so that we can dive deeply into the unique connections of the breath to our awareness and overall health, this retreat assumes the basics. There are lots of ways to get conversant with fascial properties, Anatomy Trains, and Slings Myofascial Training online before you come. If you are new, we hope you will avail yourself of these opportunities. It’s not required, and of course any questions you have are most welcome. Just know ahead of time that we are going directly to the breath and its intricacies.
