I completed my Contemporary Pilates Matwork certification with art of motion with the intention of gaining knowledge and skills to enhance my awareness and capacity as a Yoga Teacher and Body Worker. It was the open and expansive system of education that art of motion has created within the Contemporary Pilates framework that stood out to me the most and assisted my own unique learning style throughout the course. What this means is that I now feel confident to use these skills and information in all areas of my work and personal practice. I found the Flow and Body Reading components of the course particularly beneficial. Through these I have gained an in-depth understanding of how to modify movements and best write functional programs that cater for the individual needs of my clients. In addition I now have insight into the fundamental importance of the pelvic floor structure, functions and the effects this can have on the entire body system and breath. I highly recommend this training to anyone who wants to expand their own personal Pilates or yoga practice, and grow dramatically in their understanding of the body, breath and functional movement.
