Rikke, you are a trained physiotherapist and dietician, and a Yin Yoga Teacher. How do you implement Slings Myofascial Training into your daily work? When I teach Yin Yoga, I use the principles from the Anatomy Trains in Motions and Slings Myofascial Training, I also use some the movement sequences, and the exercises directly in my teaching. Furthermore, the Slings Myofascial Training provides me with an understanding of the fascial continuities in the body, allowing me to better direct my teaching and my treatments to the patient’s problems.
Besides your work as a physiotherapist and dietician, you offer a wide range of Yoga Classes, Yoga Workshops as well as Slings Myofascial Training courses for movement professionals and therapists. What sort of Body & Mind Movement trends have you observed in Denmark up to today?And where do you think the trends will go to in your market? The knowledge about fascia is the new Black, both within manual Therapy, and movement. This will in my view continue to grow. Where we saw Pilates 15 years ago, today, Yoga and Fascia training is very much on the rise.
Tell us something about your personal movement routine. How do you stay happy and healthy and in tune with yourself? My daily workout is long walks for at least 2 hours, which provides me with a good cardio training, but also allows to keep my brain calm, and focussed. You can say it’s my daily mediation. Every day I do a little yoga / fascial training, and sometimes longer yoga classes. I also do a little resistance training.
You are in the middle of the comprehensive Slings Myofascial Training Education yourself. How do you explain Slings Myofascial Training to your relatives over a Sunday family brunch in 3 sentences? The body is an interconnected whole, all parts are depending on each other – an action in one part of the body will give a re-action in another part of the body.
When did you hear the first time about Slings Myofascial Training and what was your motivation to become a host for art of motion? I first heard of Slings Myofascial Training in August 2015, attending the Yin Yoga Training with Victor Chng. In April 2016, I attended the Anatomy Trains in Motion, with Karin Gurtner in Helsinki. I found the knowledge of fascia to be truly inspirational, and wanted to bring the knowledge to body workers, and the movement therapists of Denmark.
What kind of people have your Slings Myofascial Training courses attracted so far? Where do people generally come from? I have had, Yoga teaches, physiotherapists, osteopaths, Pilates instructors, chiropractors and personal trainers attending. The attendees come from all over Europe, with the majority from Denmark.
How do you successfully promote your courses within your network in order to ensure that it is worthwhile for you running the courses? I use facebook, word of mouth, and my network. I have a newsletter that I publish several times a year. Like this one here.
Who do you think will benefit most from the comprehensive Slings Myofascial Training and why? It’s not restricted to a specific profession, it’s the therapists and the teachers that have a holistic approach to the human body.
