What Movement Brings to the Table

Enhanced postural ease and movement freedom, accessible somatic wisdom and strengthened vitality are essential to the vision of Slings Myofascial Training and Structural Integration. While the skilled hands of a bodyworker can reach deep places, both structurally and in a felt sense, a manual treatment, by nature, always works from the outside in. In movement, we have the opportunity to enliven the body and improve functionality from the inside out and the outside in. The fascia-focused practices featured in this album emphasise gentle self-determination and vitalising from within.

The Feeling of Knowing

A person’s feeling of agency over their life—the ability to manage life and make intrinsically motivated choices—expresses itself in self-determination. Self-determination is a key factor in physical and emotional health, as well as resilience.

By deliberately activating muscles from core to periphery, which tensions the respective fascial layers in a non-linear, yet sequential manner, the body is conditioned from the inside out. By enjoying self-massages and intentionally orchestrating movement from the periphery to the centre, we condition the body from the outside in.

Introductory Video

Join Karin for a welcoming message and invitation to experience 4 thoughtfully curated interoceptive movement sequences to rightfully take kinaesthetic concepts off the page (or out of the screen) and into the body-mind. Included are some wonderful recommendations on how to approach these practices and some insight into why the props are used in different ways throughout the practice. Enjoy!

Essential Floor Practice

This 30-minute sequence comprises essential Slings Myofascial Training concepts with an interoceptive focus. Explore with Karin how various exteroceptive stimulations and proprioceptive changes from different props can alter your interoceptive experience - and therefore feeling.

Contrasting Hip Release Practice

Embodying your Deep Front Line can facilitate a feeling of being somatically at home in your body. Using unusual positions, contrasting muscle activation, tensional changes, and varying rhythms Karin facilitates building nuanced awareness in your body wide core.

Spiralling Side Stretch & Rolling Practice

From an evolutionary perspective, the Lateral Line is a line of sensing. In this practice, you will awaken the receptive sides of the body through generous ranges of motion that tension tissue and facilitate fascial glide – essential for proprioceptive finesse and interoceptive clarity.

Bounces, Spirals, & Circles Practice

Can you be strong and stable in one part of your body and easeful and adaptable in another? Can you sense both strong and subtle stimulation? What feelings does this challenge evoke? Karin asks you to stay present in your body to explore these questions all the while creating space for the inner organs and vitalizing the spine!
